Falling into Flying, Alicia Grayson
About masterclass: | All levels. We will begin by fine tuning some of the fundamental principles of contact improvisation: tracking the point of contact, sharing a center of gravity, finding efficient support through the body's structure and deepening skills of listening to self, partner and the relationship between the two. We will progress into effortlessly following the point of contact while flowing within a 3-dimensional orientation using momentum. Emphasis is on using the bodies structure optimally and creating a clear relationship of the contact point to the floor so we can dance with maximum efficiency and range. We will play with being continuously off balance, and finding luscious transitions from falling to flying. | About Alicia Grayson: | Alicia Grayson has dedicated the last two decades of her life to the exploration of movement and contact improvisation. She has taught and performed in North America and Europe. Her long time practices of authentic movement, yoga and meditation are important influences on her dancing and teaching. Her teaching is precise, inspirational, and creative and moves mind, body, and spirit.
